Morah Marnie’s Bio

Marnie Narboni grew up in Center City Philadelphia, and attended public school there. She didn’t have a formal Jewish education, but her family had a great influence on her Jewish identity. Her father had left Rumania at the age of 12 during the war, and her grandmother brought with her the memory of a sister who had perished in the Holocaust. Her mother’s father had escaped the anti semites in Warsaw to come to America as a young man, and her mother’s mom was raised on the Lower East Side of New York. With such a Jewish American story nourishing her mind and heart, Marnie grew up in a close knit family feeling deeply about being Jewish, but not really knowing what it meant.

At NYU, she roomed with an Israeli woman whose friendship affected her deeply and brought her to feel and believe strongly that Israel was an amazing place worthy of investigation. In 1989 she set off for a learning experience in Israel, attending Yeshiva Neve Yerushalayim in Jerusalem. She returned with a burning desire to learn and experience more of her Jewish Heritage and to help the Jewish Community. This feeling was further strengthened when Marnie married and began learning Torah with her husband and with the community of the Lubavitcher Rebbe in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.

“Morah Marnie” means “Teacher Marnie”, and that’s how she’s been known for 30 years now.

Morah Marnie is a long time teacher of Torah, Hebrew, and Yiddishkeit for young children in Caskey Torah Academy in Wynnewood PA and a long time Hebrew School Teacher in Har Zion Temple, in Penn Valley, PA. She has earned “Teacher of the Year” recognition at both CTA and Har Zion.

Above all, she never forgets that since she didn’t receive a Jewish education as a child, she may never have had the opportunity to learn about her heritage without Divine Providence putting her in the right place at the right time. She has therefore made it her mission to share her knowledge, love and passion for Jewish wisdom and life with young people and their families.

Morah Marnie believes in making Jewish education fun and exciting. Connecting to your heritage has the power to transform your life and create new pathways in the mind to challenge and illuminate prevailing conventional theories with the light of the Torah.

Morah Marnie is so excited about our new program and can’t wait for you to be part of our family!
